...to catch the bus!

Even though my appetite has increased, it's impossible to gain weight here because:
  1. I keep having to walk in school the distance of Raffles Hall to about 2nd bus stop of Arts in NUS in 10mins to catch the bus or to get to class
  2. The bus stops are very far apart and the buses take an hour to come so if we miss a stop we have to walk all the way back
  3. We keep running to catch the bus carrying a few kg (or should we say Pounds) of groceries

Speaking of no.3, we did it AGAIN today! There's roadworks going on along Culver Drive, so some bus stops are either out of service or relocated much further away. When Lois and I belatedly ran out of Albertson's, in the rain mind you, carrying 1 gallon of orange juice and half a gallon of peach juice and 10 Swiss Miss hot chocolate boxes, among other things, we saw the bus coming and ran for it! Not caring that our arms were dropping off and the rain was smacking against our faces.

On the way, the plastic bag carrying the gallon of juice broke!! So I had to stuff the lettuce and a few boxes of Swiss Miss into my A&F bag and plastic bag with my ski clothes and trudge on. All the way home. Poor lettuce.

Thank God the driver waited for us, unlike last week when Amanda, Xian Cong and I had to wait a whole hour at the bus stop cos the driver was mean. Or he didn't see us. Pick one. They had to sit on the ground with the many groceries while I chatted with my Homeland Security classmate who coincidentally had missed the bus too.

The car the others drove to LA, which I returned to the rental company so I could grab some groceries. Dropped Lois off at school, wish I could drive there everyday!

Shopping at Big5 for outdoorsy stuff. Big discounts!

My new ski clothes! So Art Attack-ish right.

My freezer!! I wish. Lots of flavours like Cinnamon Bun and Everything something something can't remember.

THESE are the drawers in my kitchen. 10 for $10!! Swiss Miss! I think we're nuts.

Uploaded the photos for Superbowl and Laundry and CNY party! check previous posts.

...and my mood.

I seriously can't wait to go to SF and get out of here for awhile.

Let's not even start on the schoolwork.

Or the fact that things keep catching up to me, even though they're such a huge geograhical distance away.

Sometimes I wonder why I didn't leave the months before the next semester at NUS free, so I could get an internship at Washington D.C., or even at least in Sacremento.

At the same time I wish I was back in sg to storm the political science department and demand my grade to be higher and stop being so wishy-washy and have some transparency in the whole process.

But then God promises "It shall be done according to your faith." (Matthew 9:29)

I have faith that there's a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). I have faith for big things that have not been done or seen (Isaiah 43:18-19)! I have faith that I will look back on this night and praise God for all the things that He will bring to pass from now on (Romans 8:28).

Amen!

...cos we had Pho for supper!

There's this 'Little Saigon' area in Garden Grove, about 10min drive from Irvine. It feels like Vietnam there, even though I've never been to Vietnam. It's special cos there's this place which has a 50% discount on all beef bowls and the Pho is really really good!!

If you didn't already know, I love Pho.

Whenever I go to the Biz canteen at NUS, I eat Pho. (I've never tried the western though I heard it's nice. I've tried the chicken rice twice. And stuff from the drinks/dessert store.) Why? I must have my Vietnamese Beef Noodles! (Despite the Vietnamese saying it isn't nice there.)Xintian and Shumin can attest to this fact.

So, after some of the other exchange students came back from The Price Is Right in LA (they didn't get to participate but saw Drew Carey and the Dodgers, and two participants WON CARS), we went to get Pho-ed! At 10pm on a school night!

I LOVE YOU

...and am going to Universal Studios and a Chris Tomlin concert!

Yay the date is set on the 28th!

Universal Studios! ha. Alvin will be jealous!

a Chris Tomlin concert in the middle of the rides

Visiting Saddleback main church the next day

Then back to Universal Studios!

We got a 2 days for 1 ticket. But there's a 1 year for 1 day ticket!!! So tempting!

Update: Israel Houghton and New Breed are at the concert too!!

(must get excited over such trips to temporarily escape from the wearisome burden of the midterms, and policy memo deadlines, and take home exams)

...and caught the Superbowl on TV!!!

I'm like waiting in the library for my study group mates cos our midterm's on Wed (yes, on a sunday night no less) and here midterms seem to be as or even more important than the finals. the library and student center is completely full of people. It's just crazy. And they're not replying me so I don't know where to meet. Which is bad cos I need a ride home!!

Apart from that, I just watched the Superbowl XLIII on TV! American football has many things in common with rugby in terms of tackling and touch rugby in terms of strategy, so I wasn't that lost. There's even more rules than Netball and 1 min can seem like an eternity.

MAN WAS IT EXCITING OR WHAT??!?!?!

Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 Arizona Cardinals

The long runs, the tackling, the near-misses. WOW! And the score is so close!! I bet for a moment there all the Steelers fans started crying and praying really hard, cos their prayers worked and they won in the end. What a game.

We watched it in place of having Bible Study so there was Korean food and a 57-inch HDTV and 2 yappy dogs and great company. Thanks to Elias for his house! His roommates are something else. The big, tall, busty, bimbo-looking party girl type. But their bathroom is really really clean! With a hello kitty soap dispenser and a pink pig mug.

Upload photos when I can.

Meanwhile, my housemates went to Joshua Tree National Park for the weekend to climb real rocks so I had the whole weekend to myself! They came back with bloodied and bruised limbs. I wanna go too!

The apartment was just next to Saddleback Church's main campus.

Jennifer Hudson singing the national anthem.Food!!

Elias' dogs. They kept wanting to eat the food.
